Call for strong environment laws

Add your name to the petition calling for strong environment laws:

The petition:

"To Prime Minister Anthony Albanese and Environment Minister Murray Watt,

Labor promised to protect nature, end extinction and address the climate crisis.

We call on you to listen to the people and create strong new environment laws that actually protect nature:

  • Strong rules – national standards and a “quick no” to projects that cause unacceptable harm.
  • Stop climate destruction – no more green lights for fossil fuel projects that fuel the climate crisis and damage nature.
  • End deforestation – close logging loopholes and exemptions and protect native forests and wildlife habitat.
  • An independent referee – a strong watchdog to make decisions and enforce the law (and not politicians or AI).

These reforms will shape how nature is protected for decades. We call on you to make this the turning point our environment needs."

Why sign the petition?

These reforms are long overdue. Across the country, extinctions are skyrocketing, deforestation is rampant, and climate-wrecking projects are still being waved through. Traditional Owners are sidelined from decisions on their own Country.

But industry lobby groups are pushing to weaken our laws even further. Unless we act now, reforms meant to protect nature could instead fast-track destruction – even using AI to speed up environmental assessment.

We’re in a climate and extinction crisis. We need an independent EPA umpire making rigorous decisions, not politicians or algorithms deciding whether a forest is bulldozed, a wetland drained or ancient rock art destroyed.

By signing this petition, you’re backing the expert recommendations of environmental lawyers who know how the system works – and how it must change.

"We must seize this chance to create good laws that ensure healthy forests, clean air and climate stability. No more tepid fixes - we need enforceable protections now."
