You helped push long-overdue reform of Australia's environment laws.
After decades of advocacy and legal work, new environmental laws finally passed through Parliament, strengthening protections for Australia’s forests.
The reforms are not perfect, but together, our pressure helped close major deforestation loopholes, block the fast-tracking of fossil fuel projects, and open the door to national environmental standards.
Now the real test is implementation – and whether those standards deliver real protection for nature.
You helped protect wildlife on the brink of extinction.
Thanks to the landmark court case for our client the Wilderness Society, EJA lawyers compelled the federal Environment Minister to give threatened wildlife like greater gliders and lungfish the recovery plans they urgently need.
This is a significant step forward – and we couldn’t have done it without your support.
You supported communities to challenge major fossil fuel projects.
With your support, we’re representing community groups challenging the Narrabri gas pipeline, fracking in the Beetaloo Basin, and the North West Shelf gas project extension. Now the UN Special Rapporteur is seeking to weigh in on the North West Shelf legal challenges.
This is a major moment in Australian climate law. If these cases are successful, each could set precedents that ensure climate impacts from coal and gas projects can no longer be ignored.
A Larrakia Elder was formally recognised as an owner of cultural artefacts under the NT’s Heritage Act.
Since 2017, Larrakia Elder Tibby Quall has raised the alarm about cultural heritage and sacred sites at Binybara/Lee Point.

Almost 2000 hectares of savanna were saved from bulldozers.
Since 2022 our client, the Environment Centre of Northern Territory, has pushed for action against land clearing in the Northern Territory to protect one of the last remaining intact savannas on Earth.
Your support has helped hold the NT government and corporations accountable – making sure destructive decisions don’t get waved through without proper scrutiny.
You backed Traditional Owners.
With your support, we’ve helped Taungurung Traditional Owners challenge a project that puts the Rubicon River, of deep cultural and ecological significance, at risk.
For tens of thousands of years, First Nations peoples have cared for Country and kept rivers and waterways healthy and flowing.
Your support is also helping First Nations communities along the Murray-Darling Basin seek water justice and return healthy flows to Tati Tati Country.
You stood with young people on climate change.
Thanks to your support, nine young people from across the continent known as Generation Justice submitted a complaint to the United Nations Special Rapporteur on climate change – and EJA got to be their lawyers.
Our clients are challenging Australia’s role in fuelling the climate crisis, and hope the UN will amplify their stories and push the Australian government to take action on climate.

You kept native forests standing tall.
Your support means EJA can continue to represent community group, Wildlife of the Central Highlands, in a legal challenge to native forest logging loopholes in Victoria – just when you thought those forests were safe.
After decades of campaigning and legal action, native forest logging was meant to officially end in Victoria, but this legal challenge exposes a growing gap between promise and reality.
This is about accountability, and keeping Victoria’s forests standing for generations to come. Community groups, like our client, are stepping in where government oversight is falling short.
