The NSW EPA is accepting submissions now on a proposed law which will determine clean air regulations for big polluters in the years ahead.

Air pollution is a serious issue in NSW that causes hundreds of avoidable deaths and cases of childhood asthma every year.

Yet NSW air pollution regulations are weak compared to many other countries. Power stations here are missing modern pollution filters, and communities are paying the price.

Right now, the Environment Protection Authority is updating NSW’s Clean Air Regulation, and setting the legal framework for managing air quality in NSW and controlling air pollution.

Our environmental lawyers have reviewed their proposed new Clean Air Regulations. We’re concerned they will allow power station operators to keep pumping out far too much toxic pollution for far too long, and put our communities’ health at continual risk.

Luckily, the EPA wants to know what you think about their draft regulations. They are accepting public submissions until 5pm, Friday 3 June – so get your skates on!
