Biodiversity

Biodiversity is the most complex and vital feature of our planet. Without it, life as we know it would not exist. Thanks to plants, we have oxygen. Thanks to bees, we have fruit and nuts. Mangroves protect coral reefs from sediment, while reefs protect our shorelines from storms.

Without biodiversity, our planet’s entire life support system would collapse – yet across Australia, these vital natural ecosystems are in peril.

We are in the midst of an extinction crisis and global biodiversity is in rapid decline. Australia is one of seven countries responsible for more than half the globe’s biodiversity destruction and yet, logging, land-clearing and rampant development continues in critically important habitat and ecosystems.

Our lawyers represent concerned citizens and communities, as they hold governments and corporations accountable in the courts for failing to protect wildlife and the places we love and rely on. And we play an integral role in developing stronger state and federal biodiversity protection laws.
