The Victorian Government has promised to develop a whole-of-government environmental justice strategy, as part of its response to recommendations from the recent EPA inquiry.
The concept of ‘environmental justice’ is used in different ways by communities, academics and sometimes governments.
Environmental Justice Australia has produced this 4-page outline paper to help communities and individuals who want to engage with the Victorian Government and who may attend the consultations being run in April 2018 by the Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning.
The paper outlines what an environmental justice model could contain and gives some preliminary suggestions about specific commitments that could be made by the Victorian Government.
