In 2014, the Victorian Government made a commitment to implementing a Yarra River Protection Act and Yarra River Trust. This paper provides proposals for the Act and Trust.
These proposals have emerged from a participatory design process among 14 community groups and environmental NGOs convened by Environmental Justice Australia and the Yarra Riverkeeper Association between February and June 2016.
This paper has been prepared by EJA and YRKA with input from community groups and academic and lawyer colleagues.
