This submission addresses three topics in turn – environmental risks, public health risks, land-use conflicts and community rights.
Also, in 2012 we prepared a comprehensive report detailing what, in our view, needs to be changed in Victoria’s mining laws in order to properly protect communities and the environment.
The concerns raised in that report apply equally to laws governing unconventional gas regulated under the Petroleum Act, so we provide this report as an attachment to our submission.
