Before that, Max worked in various capacities as a campaign organiser, starting with the Australian Youth Climate Coalition. In 2014, Max coordinated an action for Earth Hour in Tony Abbott’s local electorate, with more than 2000 people demanding strong climate action standing on our then Prime Minister’s favourite beach. In 2013, Max was part of a successful campaign to stop coal port expansion along the Great Barrier Reef on Queensland’s Capricorn Coast. In 2012, as International Policy Coordinator with the AYCC, Max was in Doha, Qatar, representing the Australian youth voice in negotiations of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change.
Max has a law degree, and volunteered at the EDO back in 2012/13, but he’s never been admitted to practice as a lawyer. He preferred the idea of being a grassroots campaigner! Max is a graduate of the Change Agency’s Community Organising Fellowship and a holds post-graduate qualification in community advocacy.
Max likes dancing, playing soccer and performing stand-up comedy.
