The Yarra Community Forum brought together representatives from across the Yarra catchment to discuss the issues facing the river and put forward ideas for a vision for the Yarra.
Held jointly by Environmental Justice and the Yarra Riverkeepers Association, the event saw 100 people gather at Abbotsford Convent to listen to speakers outline the problems and challenges facing the river.
After a lively question and answer session, community members put down their issues and suggestions for what an effective Yarra River Protection Act would be like.
This is just the first step in a long process to ensure the community is treated as partners in the development of the legislation. There is still a lot of work to do and we will keep you posted as the campaign develops.
We were fortunate to have the graphic scribing services of artist Sarah Firth, who drew pictures and diagrams of what speakers were saying to create a visual record of the meeting.
