Alpine grazing case update

Last year, we took a court case against the former Victorian state government’s ‘trial’ of cattle grazing in the Alpine National Park.

Our case argues that the grazing trial is not permitted under the National Parks Act.

The case is currently listed for its final hearing in March.

Following a campaign by ourselves, our clients the Victorian National Parks Association, and others, the new Victorian Government has committed not to proceed with the grazing trial.

We think this commitment is an excellent outcome for Victoria’s National Parks.

Discussions are proceeding regarding the Supreme Court case which is still on foot. More news soon.

Whatever the outcome, we will continue to work to use the law to ensure that cattle grazing is not allowed in the Alpine National Park under any circumstances, and that national parks get the legal protection they need.
